Snowstorm Bring Heavy Snarl Travel

A snowstorm barreled through the Midwest over the weekend, leaving in its wake dangerous travel conditions and widespread power outages.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued winter storm warnings and advisories for parts of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Wisconsin. The warnings and advisories were in effect from Friday night through Sunday night.

The storm produced snowfall totals of 6 to 12 inches, with locally higher amounts, across the warned areas. In addition, gusty winds of 25 to 40 mph caused blizzard conditions in some areas and led to downed tree limbs and power lines.

According to Poweroutage.us, more than 190,000 customers were without power as of Monday morning. The majority of the outages (more than 160,000) were in Michigan.

The storm caused numerous road closures and traffic delays. In Chicago, for example, more than 200 flights were canceled at O’Hare International Airport on Sunday.

The combination of snow, ice and wind was too much for many trees. In Detroit, for example, a large tree fell on a house, killing a woman inside.

The storm is now moving out of the Midwest and into the Northeast, where it is expected to bring rain and snow to parts of New York and New England.

Will there be a blizzard in 2022?

There is no one definitive answer to the question of whether or not there will be a blizzard in 2022. However, there are a number of factors that could influence whether or not such a storm occurs.

One of the main things that affects the likelihood of a blizzard is the temperature. In order for a blizzard to form, there needs to be a significant difference in temperature between the ground and the air. This usually happens when the temperature drops significantly overnight, causing the ground to freeze. This temperature difference creates the wind conditions necessary for a blizzard to form.

Another important factor is the humidity. In order for a blizzard to form, the humidity needs to be high. This is because the snow needs to be able to form into large flakes, and high humidity helps to create these conditions.

Finally, the position of the jet stream can also play a role in whether or not a blizzard will occur. The jet stream is a current of air that travels high in the atmosphere and helps to dictate the weather conditions in different parts of the world. If the jet stream is in a favorable position, it can help to create the conditions necessary for a blizzard to form.
